I was very interested in reading this book when I was asked to review it. I wasn’t disappointed. Many of the ideas are simple and easy to do. You can do some very simple things to make yourself or someone else feel great.

Our lives are so complicated and busy anymore – I think we need reminders to slow down and savor life. Time with family, friends or even alone with your thoughts are all important. We can get so bogged down in the day to day living and one day we look up and we are just really feeling down.

This book offers 50 ideas to refresh your mind, heart and spirit or suggests ways you can offer that to someone else. This isn’t just a simple list though – with each idea they tell a small story that gives you an idea of what their thought was behind the idea.

I enjoyed reading the stories and found them refreshing my mind just by getting my imagination rolling as to what I could do for myself or other loved ones that could use a little break.

My favorite ideas was Chapter 19, Kidnap Someone You Love.  Wow – what a neat idea.  Don’t tell, be sure everything is completely set up and kidnap someone for an hour, a day or a week.  It can be a drive in the country or a lavish weekend at a spa.  The cost doesn’t matter – all that matters is that both of you reconnect and refresh yourselves so you come back to your real world refreshed and feeling great.

This is a Christian writing and I enjoyed the occasional spiritual references throughout the book as well.  I didn’t feel it was over the top, so those with different beliefs shouldn’t feel they must totally avoid this writing.  Those with a Christian background will appreciate the reminders that life is better when you put time into your faith as well.

This is a really easy read, fun ideas and I really like the fact that you can make the ideas work on any budget.  Some of them are ideas you may have heard before – but may have put out of your  mind in your quest to get “everything” done.  Each chapter is just a little nudge to remind you that life is for living – not just “getting things done.”  I really enjoyed this – read a chapter a night and start making some plans so you too can feel great today!   We all deserve a little time to rejuvenate.
